The Easiest Cranberry Sauce Recipe, EVER!

Okay, y'all...we're coming up on Thanksgiving very quickly. If you want to impress your relatives with fancy cranberry sauce, but you're not a fancy cook, this recipe is for you! This takes less than 5 minutes to prepare and it's delicious!

You only need 3 ingredients...

5 minute cranberry sauce recipe

It's from Sandra Lee and you won't believe how easy it is! My aunt gave me this recipe years ago and it's definitely a winner. It graces our table every Thanksgiving.

Here it is:

1 can jellied cranberry sauce
1 can whole berry cranberry sauce
1 jar orange marmalade

It also calls for orange zest strips, but I'm not that fancy, so I omit them. :)

Here's the instructions: Stir everything together.

So easy, right?

Don't you love one line instructions? :)

Here's a pic from Sandra's site:

See? Fancy!

And here's a link to her recipe:

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!

NASCAR and Magnolia Market

My oldest son is a big fan of NASCAR. So he was beyond excited to go to Fort Worth for the race at Texas Motor Speedway...

Dale Jr. Texas Motor Speedway

They got pit passes so they would have access to the cars and drivers before the race.

He's a big Dale Jr. fan and I'm sure he was excited to see him up close during driver introductions...

Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan pics

I guess that would be like me getting to be that close to Nic Cage. ;)

Anyway, they drove through Waco on their way home and asked if there was anything I wanted at Magnolia Market. Umm...yes!!!

I quickly took a screenshot of a few items I wanted. Everything on my list was out of stock except this beauty...

It's the "Desna Crown Tray" in medium. I can't wait to style it and I think it's going to look so good on my new counters!

I also wanted a cupcake from the bakery, but the line was wrapped around the building. Oh well, like I said on IG, it saved me some extra time on the treadmill. :)

Our kitchen counters are being installed next week! I can't wait to share pics! It looks like there will be enough quartz left over to redo our guest bath counter too. It was looking rough. I'll share some before an after pics of everything soon, but until then, look for sneak peeks on Instagram. Wishing you all a very good day!

This and That

Hi everyone! Hope you're having a good day. It's been so hot and humid here...

100% humidity in November! Really, Houston??? Really???

In other news, my farmhouse sink came 6 days EARLY! Yay!

Isn't she pretty? (the sink, but the cat is pretty too) I couldn't wait to take her out of the box and stare at her beauty. :)

Now we need to set up an appointment for the counter guys to measure and then we can finally get the quartz installed.

I thought I'd share a few Halloween pics with you. Here's Holly inspecting a pumpkin...

As you can see, she has to check out anything new that comes into the house.

And here she is napping...

Relaxed much?

My son and his friends dressed up as the kids from the movie "IT" for Halloween...

I love these kids!

My boys carved a couple of pumpkins...

Obviously, one of them is obsessed with all things Apple. He just got the new iPhone X and is loving it. It's so weird how he opens his phone with his face. Lol! I guess facial recognition is the future. :)

I shared a pic of this wine on IG the other day...

Côtes de Provence Rosé

Over the last 24 hours, I had cleaned up cat throw up, a toilet that overflowed and a mysterious smelly liquid oozing from a hole in the bottom of my outside trash can. I think it had to do with pumpkin guts. Eww. So I figured I deserved a glass of wine. :)

There's a funny story that goes with this pic...So I read an article about this particular wine recently. It won several awards and was touted as being one of the best wines around. At only $8, I figured I had to try it. It was coming to the United States and was going to be available exclusively at Aldi stores, but only while supplies last.

So I marked my calendar for the release date. On that day, my mom and aunt went with me so we could each get a bottle. Or two. Or three. Only $8, remember? :) When we got to Aldi, we went straight to the wine aisle and spotted the sign for it, but the shelf was empty! The horror! Lol! My mom and aunt continued to look for it while I marched up to the check out lady, holding the ad up for her to see, asking if they were already sold out. She just stared at me and silently pointed at the huge display right in front of me. Hee hee! I didn't even bother to go get my mom and aunt, I just yelled "OVER HERE! I FOUND IT!" They came running and we each happily grabbed a few bottles and got in line to check out. Meanwhile, I noticed several other people in line casually grabbing some bottles too. They didn't know why we were so excited. A classic case of FOMO, I guess. Ha! Anyway, the reviews were right, it's very good.

And I feel the need to say that no, I didn't drink all that wine in the picture above. We had company over the night before and this was what was left. :)

One more thing...Here is the list of all the new Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel...

Thanks to my aunt for sending me this. I've already got my DVR ready!

Did y'all have a good Halloween? I'll be keeping my fall decor up until after Thanksgiving, as usual. But then it's ALL Christmas!

Don't forget to set your clocks BACK an hour tonight!

Quartz Countertop Update

We decided to definitely go with quartz counters! I'm so excited! I got to meet with my contractor a couple of weeks ago to look at samples in the showroom. I was so excited to get the ball rolling!

I mentioned that I'd heard you can get quartz for only a little more than laminate these days and apparently there are some quartz choices that are more affordable but...I guess I have good taste because the sample I went directly to at the showroom was one of the more expensive ones (of course it was) And I added the ogee edge which increased the cost. Oh well. :) All in all, we paid about $80 per square foot. When I first laid eyes on all the samples, my eye went right to this one...

Daltile Quartz in "Riverbank" color.

It had the neutral colors I was looking for...grey and white. Here are all the quartz samples we brought home...

It's always a good idea to bring samples home to look at them in your own kitchen with the kind of lighting you have. Things can look a lot different in the showroom than they do in your own home. I would also recommend taking the samples outdoors in natural light. Sometimes natural light can bring out other colors in the stone that you can't see indoors.

These were the top two we were considering...

Daltile "Riverbank" on the left and Color Quartz "Breccia Bianco" on the right.

The one on the right just looked too much like a dalmation when I saw bigger pictures of it. Too many black and white "spots" I guess.

Although I was pretty sure I wanted Riverbank, I still wanted to see a large slab of it before making my final decision. It's so hard to tell on those little samples. So we drove about an hour away to visit the slab yard and see a big ol' chunk of it in person. We donned our bright orange vests and had a guide take us out to the yard. They were able to lift our choice out into the aisle for us to get a closer look...

And here it is...

It definitely has the grey and white look I was going for.

Here's a close up...

I would definitely recommend going to the slab yard before making a final decision. Our particular quartz was pretty consistent in color, but if you're considering granite, you really want to see an entire slab because granite has different patterns throughout. For example, your little sample at the showroom could seem like one color, but when you see the entire slab, you'll see other swirls and patterns that won't necessarily show up in the little sample piece.

And sometimes you can pick up on another color in the stone that you didn't see in the sample. I have a friend who had her quartz all picked out from a sample. The sample looked like a cream background with grey swirls. Then she went to the slab yard to look at a big piece in person and noticed the swirls had a lot of green to them.

Here's a picture of the sample on our existing counters, so you can get a pretty good idea of what it'll look like...

I think it will look great with our stainless appliances, white cabinets, subway tile and wood floors. What do you think?

I'm pretty sure we're going with a single basin apron front farmhouse sink too. We'll probably go with a short apron front, so we don't have to modify our existing cabinets too much. Here's the one we're thinking of getting...

And by the way, when did sinks get so expensive??? Talk about sticker shock!

As soon as we order our sink, we can get started on the counters. And we might even have enough quartz left over to redo the guest bathroom counter. I'll keep y'all posted. :)

I had to share this deal with y'all! Look at these cute holiday pillow covers on Amazon. This one is a FOUR PACK for $12, including shipping!!! All these I'm showing you today are from TrimakeShop on Amazon. They're 18"x18" so they work perfectly with the standard pillow forms sold at places like Hobby Lobby.

Just put "trimakeshop" in the search bar on Amazon and they'll all come up.

I love the Halloween ones and you get all three for less than $10 shipped!

This one is perfect for Thanksgiving and it's only $4, including shipping!

Can you believe those prices?! If you only wanted a couple, you could split the price with a friend and really get a good deal! Or you could split them up and give as gifts.

One more thing...I edited my FALL HOME TOUR POST because I added this cute plaid "throw"...

Isn't it cute? It's actually a $5 scarf from Walmart. :)

We visited the slab yard today and officially picked our quartz. I'll share pics soon. Happy Weekend!

2017 Fall Decor

I'm back today to share my fall home tour. As usual on these posts, I'll try to keep the talking to a minimum and just let you browse through the pics without having to listen to me jibber jabber. :)

I counted how many pumpkins I have in my house right now and the total is... 55! Pumpkin addiction at its finest. ;)

That basket holds a ton of burlap pumpkins, along with some cream colored ones with a little fall ribbon thrown in for good measure.

Check out Miss Holly trying to get inside the armoire...

I have several of these Fall pillow hangers from Kirklands...

This cute little black and white pumpkin is my only new fall decor purchase this year. Target...$5. :)

That "Give Thanks" pillow is still a fall favorite. And the pumpkin candle holder on the end table looks so pretty when lit.

Edited to add: I just got this pretty fall "throw" at Walmart for $5. P.S. It's actually a scarf! :) Thanks to my IG friend @audrajenn for this clever idea!

The ol' "window cling on a plate trick" for easy to remove temporary fall decor. With the abundance of cute window clings, this works for any holiday.

I love that my new dishwasher has a handle so I can display another fall dishtowel.

And that concludes my fall home tour 2017. Thanks for taking a look!
